This is my first blog post!
Now that I’ve gotten that confession out of the way, I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself, my purpose for these this website and these blogs, and my personal goals. And maybe I’ll even talk a little about my life (if you’re interested in knowing more about who “Carlo the IT Guy” really is).
But enough with the the corny introductions…
The purpose of this site…
It’s no secret that I’m just getting started. And I don’t just mean with this blog. I’m a 27-year-old trying to gain experience. And that’s why I’m here.
My main goal for this website is to showcase who I am. But I don’t just want it to be a portfolio and resume website. I want it to be a space where I can talk about my experiences openly as well has share what I have to offer. I want to use this space as an extension of my job as an IT professional and use it to provide tips and support. I want it to be a true collaboration space. Yeah, that probably sounds cliché!
In that regard, I also want this space to transform as we share conversations and experiences. Right now, I only have a vague idea about the things I want to talk about, so I’m open to hearing what you guys are interested in. And yes, most topics will mainly be IT or tech or business related, but we can push that envelope. Just let me know what kinds of tech topics or general questions most interest you and why, and we’ll see where the wind takes us!
But what’s my purpose, you ask?
Another cliché answer: I want to make the world a better place! And I believe that starts by helping each other.
It’s inherent in my career right now; As an IT support technician, my job is literally assisting people by giving them the tools they need to get the job done. And doesn’t that help make the world a better place?
But in that regard, that really is my purpose: to use technology to create powerful tools that can be used in business or everyday life. And to offer support, now matter how big or small, to the average user so they can think less about how to do something and focus more on doing it.
And just who is ‘Carlo’?
When people ask “who is Carlo?” I tell them Im’ a:
- Techie – this one doesn’t really need explanation.
- Language Nerd – I love learning languages and learning about different cultures. I speak semi-fluent-Americanized Filipino/Tagalog, and I have some varying proficiency in Spanish and Japanese.
- Star Wars and Pokemon Nerd – two franchises I’ve grown up with and continue to follow. If you even hint at these two things, it’ll probably end up as a drawn out conversation.
- Self-Proclaimed Chef, Foodie, and Coffee Lover – I love cooking and I love eating even more! It’s exciting trying to find new recipes and challenging myself by making them. I’m also an avid coffee lover and love spending days chilling at a local coffee shop.
If we want to get to know me more, feel free to ask!
